Position Summary:

The maintenance intern will focus on learning the processes within the maintenance department. Working with the maintenance engineers and learning SAP PM module and axalant systems. Become familiar with Key performance indicators, overall equipment efficiency, and preventive maintenance practices. Support the warranty, continuous improvement and planning processes, root cause analysis, and problem-solving techniques.

Position Responsibilities:

• Support maintenance engineer with day-to-day tasks and assigned ongoing projects.

• Utilize basic techniques in the support of continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.

• Assist with maintenance department procedure and work instruction development as needed.

• Assist in designing and building of tools and equipment and recommends improvements to existing processes.

• Perform activities in coordination with other ZFTG departments related to process improvement, evaluation, and documentation.

• Develop, monitor, analyze, and improve KPIs for assigned projects.

• Effectively respond and communicate in a timely manner with all appropriate customers, both internal and external.

• Provide support to manufacturing repair and planning processes.

• Work with the PM planning team and help improve processes.

• Must understand and interpret prints, schematics, and equipment drawings.

• Work on other duties and special projects as it relates to the position.

• Participate in daily meetings that pertain to essential functions of the position (i.e. shop floor meetings, performance improvement meetings, etc.).

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Must currently be enrolled in college as a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student

• Must have a 3.0 grade point average (gpa) on a 4.0 scale

• Working towards a degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering

• Excellent written and oral communication (to include presentations)

• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

• Good time management and prioritizing skills

• Strong organizational and task management skills

• Capable of making sound decisions in a timely manner

• Interest in Automotive Manufacturing

• Self-starter who takes pride in their work product

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Strong statistical background

• Strong mechanical aptitude

• Basic electrical knowledge

• Knowledge in reading mechanical/electrical drawings

• German language a plus
