Primary Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) assists in ensuring the provision of quality of care that promotes the highest practicable physical, mental and psychological well-being of each individual as determined by their assessments and individual plans of care.

Administrative:

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with current rules, regulations and facility policies that govern the agency as related to individual/s health, wellness, dietary, medication, and other health related services
  • Oversight of documentation of all written records of assessments, consultative or therapeutic services, objectives, medications, health and wellness appointments, progress, family/guardian contacts, reassessment or other documentation of the individuals to whom services are provided

Staffing:

  • Responsible for the procurement and oversight of all nursing personnel as directed by the Director of Nursing.
  • Assist in the development and creation of policies, procedures, documentation tools and other operational functions and be prepared to train, teach, instruct said policies and procedures.

Quality of Care:

  • Assist in ensuring that the home and day services environment is safe, secure, sanitary, and maintained in a manner consistent with regulations and delivery of services, including the availability of necessary supplies, personal hygiene, adaptive equipment and other products necessary to provide essential services and support.

``` - Work directly with individuals, families advocates, and other team members utilizing problem solving and counseling skills to develop an overall residential/health and wellness services and programs tailored to the needs and preferences of the individual/s being served

Other:

  • Supervise and participate in individual activities and integration into the community as appropriate
  • Be knowledgeable about the full array of services available and offered and the specific components of the programs assigned
  • Be willing and able to transport individual/s as directed or assigned
  • Available and willing to work flexible hours and days; willing to work in all positions as necessary to ensure proper supervision and support of the individual/s served
  • Attend all required training, in services and meetings as directed/assigned
  • Have a genuine interest in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and providing them with services designed to enhance the quality of life an progress towards independent lifestyles.

Requirements:

Current valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse with the State Board of Nursing of Ohio

Must have completed the pharmacology course (NAPNES)

Certification as a C.P.R. and first aid instructor desirable or willing to compete necessary training for certification

At least 2 years of experience in nursing (preferably in field of developmental/intellectual disability provision of services or long term care setting

Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and other programs to enhance communication and documentation requirements

Must Pass all background checks pursuant to rules, regulations and agency policy & procedures

Must complete and pass all mandatory agency orientation and training, including but, not limited to: CPR, 1st aid, CPI, delegated nursing, vehicle driving & safety, classroom testing & training.
