MAINTENANCE MECHANIC ASSISTANT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS THE COMPANY DEEMS NECESSARY.

GENERAL INFORMATION: PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Repair and maintain a variety of production equipment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repair and maintain a variety of production equipment to include pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical machinery.
  • Inspect and service electric and electronic controls, circuits and panels.
  • Bend and install conduit, pull and terminate wires and check and clean motors, relays, and contacts.
  • Disassemble, select repair procedures and repair or replace worn or defective parts using hand tools and hand power tools and simple machine tools.
  • Perform welding operations.
  • Assist in moving equipment.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance records and schedules on all machinery and equipment, including oiling and greasing of machinery.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records on all equipment.
  • Actively promote and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Comply with all Company policies.
  • Notify supervisor (or lead person) immediately of problems, concerns or questions you may have.
  • Keep work area clean and free of hazards.
  • Follow special job instructions as communicated by Maintenance Lead or managers.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Plant Manager or Maintenance Lead.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic knowledge of industrial maintenance
  • Must have own set of hand tools
  • Knowledge of metal stamping/fabrication equipment
  • Knowledge of plumbing, piping, and electricity
  • High level of mechanical aptitude
  • Experience performing all maintenance on/around building
  • Able to read English as required for interpreting manuals and prints; and to speak and understand English to communicate effectively with co-workers in work environment
  • Safety and quality minded
  • Self motivated, takes initiative
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Metal shop environment; Air conditioned plant area; Heights; Small spaces; Appropriate personal protective gear required at all times while in the shop.

LEVEL:

Works under minimal supervision, exercises large degree of discretion and independent judgment. Works under the pressure of deadlines.
