The general role of the Lab Technician I - Fiber Optics is building and testing fiber optic cables within the lab with an end goal of supporting field operations, meeting customer needs, and providing maximum operating efficiency. Lab Technician I - Fiber Optics will have the opportunity to apply technical expertise to a variety of situations by evaluating problems and implementing solutions.

Responsibilities
- Identify basic Fiber Optic cables and materials
- Learn and perform basic cable builds
- Fill orders to include spooling fiber cable, kitting materials, assembling basic enclosures, etc.
- Demonstrate familiarity with recording inventory quantities using Vista and Microsoft Excel
- Organize and document warehouse stock
- Assist with inventory control

Qualifications
- No experience required
- Ability to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to focus on tedious tasks
- Ability to differentiate color codes
- Basic power tool operation
- Able to take accurate measurements with a tape measure
- Able to follow work direction both verbally and in writing
- Must possess verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain professionalism
- Experience withMS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)and Visio
- Dependable; trustworthy; and possess a positive and productive attitude
Working Conditions
- Sit/use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / - for extended periods
- Twist, pinch, and pull with fingers and hands repetitively
- Lift and/or move up to 75-100 pounds when required
