Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Prosthetics Resident in Grand Rapids, Michigan

A Resident Prosthetist is responsible for integrating their: patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice management skills for individuals in need of prosthetic management.  They will complete their responsibilities in accordance with a physician prescription and under the supervision of a Clinical Preceptor/Mentor who has expertise in the field of Prosthetics. Essential Job Responsibilities Follows a structured program, under the supervision of a mentor, with gradually increasing responsibilities including: Staff will provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by law and regulation. Assessment of patients with impairment of human movement or musculoskeletal abnormalities that would impede their ability to participate in their social environment or other activities in order to determine a functional intervention. Formulation of a treatment plan, with other health care providers as prescribed by the referring physician based upon a comprehensive assessment to design an intervention to alleviate limitations and enhance function. Implementation of the prosthetic treatment plan. Produces prosthetic devices as prescribed by the referring physician. Utilization of a follow-up treatment plan that ensures successful prosthetic outcomes. Compliance with practice management plans to develop and document policies and procedures to ensure patient protection which includes, but is not limited to: adherence to applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations maintaining a safe and professional environment for patient care comprehension of claims development and submission Adherence to ABC Code of Professional Responsibility. Follows charting procedures and maintains records; completes in a timely manner according to department policy. Attends assigned clinics and completes hospital calls. Maintains treatment standards and protocols by meeting scheduling, patient satisfaction, and production standards. Repairs or delegates the maintenance of prostheses to technicians. Assists in inventories of supplies and equipment.  Orders supplies as needed. Other Job Responsibilities: Participates in a program of continuing education.
