Currently searching for a permanent Lead Controls Engineer for a growing and reputable Machine Builder in the Grand Rapids, MI area. Searching for a seasoned Controls Engineer who is interested in mentoring and leading other Controls Engineers and eventually managing the controls department. Position offers a wide variety of interesting projects in the automation industry. Travel is about 10%.

Responsibilities of the Controls Engineer

  • Provide electrical solutions for robot automation, process, assembly, Welding and/or material handling equipment
  • Design and program PLC and HMI software to meet requirements
  • Program, troubleshoot and modify automation machines, robotics and vision systems
  • Assist with start-up and technical support
  • Project Engineer whole systems from start to finish

Requirements of the Controls Engineer

  • Bachelors of Electrical Engineering (BSEE) degree or Associates degree is preferred, but may not required with relevant experience
  • Experience programming PLC's and HMI's. All levels of Controls Engineering experience will be considered
  • Robotics programming experience is a plus
  • Allen Bradley and Siemens experience is preferred
  • SCADA experience is a plus
  • Experience AutoCAD or Solidworks Electrical is a plus
  • Experience integrating robotics, vision systems, hydraulics and pneumatics is a plus
  • Robotic programming is a plus
  • Able to work independently as well as within a team
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be a US Citizen or have a Green Card
