Field Access Specialist, Migraine.

Grand Rapids, MI

The Migraine Field Access Specialist (FAS) acts as a non-clinical in-office resource that is available to educate and address HCP questions about patient access. The FAS is a field-based role that calls directly on HCP offices in the assigned, specific geography to address questions about patient access & reimbursement in support of AbbVie’s prescription-based migraine portfolio. The FAS provides expertise on coverage and reimbursement barriers to better enhance the patient experience. The FAS responsibilities include educating HCPs about access and reimbursement via AbbVie approved support tools, advising HCPs on patient prescription status, program eligibility, and educating offices on payer processes and procedures.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Educate HCPs on patient support programs, including approved access and reimbursement support tools and services.

  • Educate HCPs via approved resources to address access issues.

  • Be a subject matter expert on relevant local, regional, and national payer policies to appropriately educate providers on payer requirements.

  • Effectively work in a high cross-matrix environment, implementing appropriate ways of working communication with teams in sales, market access, patient service peers, as well as liaising with AbbVie’s Access and Reimbursement support center to update HCPs on Rx status and program eligibility.

  • Identify and report back payer trends related for approved products to Patient Services and market access account management teams.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate providers within the FAS territory, strategically prioritizing travel & activity across the entire FAS geography.

  • Remain current on key managed care, reimbursement, and policy activities.

  • Demonstrate agility to effectively incorporate the use of approved resources and data to appropriately support HCP education initiatives that enhance the patient’s experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Grade 18

  • Bachelor’s degree, biological sciences, pharmacy, business related field, or equivalent.

  • At least 3 years of experience in neuroscience with field experience in account management, payer account management, and/or field-based account access and reimbursement.

  • Thorough understanding of the payer policy processes, published criteria and documentation for coverage, coding, prior authorization, and appeal processes.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the rules, regulations and risks associated with provision of reimbursement support services.

  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial and governmental payer access dynamics

  • Strong understanding of access and reimbursement support service centers and how to effectively interact in a compliant fashion.

  • Demonstrated success in territory and account management skills, preferably in neurology.

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Additional Grade 19 Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of industry experience in access and reimbursement or account management.

  • Experience developing approved resources and/or educating others on payer processes, requirement for coverage, and other access related situations for specialty medicines.

  • Strong history of leadership within current role at the national level.

Overnight Travel 25%- 30%
