Meijer offers an 11-week internship program that challenges interns to deliver innovative solutions to real projects that impact the business. Throughout the course of the internship experience, we deliver diverse personal and professional development opportunities that further develop skillsets that can be implemented both during and after the program. The internship program will allow for interaction with other interns and Meijer senior leaders.

The internship program includes:

  • Challenging and impactful projects

  • Events highlighting key areas of the business

What you will be doing as an Energy & Engineering Intern :

You will have the opportunity to join our team and dive into the energy & sustainability efforts underway. Your project work will directly relate to future projects our teams will execute to further our commitments and accomplishments in energy & carbon reductions. Our current focus will be:

Innovation Store Efforts - Continued development of two major program elements including renewable energy efforts around solar energy & our continued exploration of natural refrigeration technologies.

Renewable Energy – Continued exploration and analysis to determining best suited solar energy projects in our footprint.

The intern may also get exposure to other activities of the function, including:

  • New Store Development & Design

  • Utility Sourcing & Strategy

  • Asset Lifecycle Management

Qualifications :

  • Progress toward a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI.

  • Problem Solving - Probes all fruitful sources for answers, and looks beyond the obvious to assemble and interpret data

  • Drive for results - has focus on the bottom line

  • Customer focus - dedicated to meeting expectations of internal and external customers

  • Relationship Skills - can create positive working relationships with customers, team members, leadership, and other internal and external constituencies

  • Communication Skills - conveys the right information in writing and verbally

  • Organized - uses resources effectively and arranges information and files in a useful manner

  • Attention to Detail - can extract details from written and numeric data and has a high degree of accuracy in own documentation

  • This position requires day only travel 10% of the time
