Job Description Summary

As a Commodity Manager, your primary responsibility is to identify and implement the Commodity strategy, be the relationship owner with your supply base and to negotiate with dedicated providers in accordance with established policies to secure optimal contractual conditions while ensuring internal customer satisfaction. You'll be expected to possess a deep understanding of best practices in commodity management and how your role integrates with other functions within the organization. Furthermore, staying informed about market competition and factors that set them apart is crucial to your success in this role.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive supplier strategy, focusing on the management and optimization of supplier panels within assigned commodities.

  • Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions, and allocate procurement needs to specific suppliers.

  • Efficiently manage claims related to the assigned commodities.

  • Engage in commercial sourcing management activities, including data analysis and negotiation support, to drive cost savings and improve supplier performance.

  • Utilize your in-depth knowledge of commodity management and analytical thinking to execute policies and strategies effectively.

  • Serve as a resource for colleagues with lesser experience, providing guidance and support as needed.

  • Lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements, ensuring successful outcomes within established timelines.

  • Communicate performance expectations clearly and handle sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion.

  • Operate with a degree of autonomy within established functional practices and policies, while also ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

  • Adapt procedures and practices as necessary to achieve desired outcomes in terms of quality, volume, and timeliness.

  • Exercise judgment and propose alternative solutions to address complex challenges that may arise in day-to-day operations.

  • Prioritize information for data analysis purposes, leveraging your technical expertise and analytical skills to inform decision-making.

  • Utilize a variety of internal and limited external sources to gather insights and stay informed about market trends and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 7 years of experience in Sourcing, Supply Chain, and/or Commodity Management).

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Sourcing, Supply Chain, and/or Commodity Management
