Weller Truck Parts began its history in Muskegon, Michigan in 1928 when Harry Weller, a small body shop owner, found value in recycled parts for the auto industry. The small business thrived so much that in 1949, Harry moved Weller Truck Parts to nearby Grand Rapids, MI. Job Summary

The Director of Purchasing directs the procurement and purchasing operations and strategy to provide the materials and services to meet the organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. This position is also responsible for evaluating and developing strategic supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain.

Roles and Responsibilities

Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, supplies, and acceptable substitutions.

Assesses current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery system, and other variables.

Collaborates with other departments when necessary to problem solve, troubleshoot, and learn new products through a "hands on approach."

Prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.

Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.

Develops and manages supplier programs.

Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
