Lockheed Martin Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion Engineer - Early Career - Dallas, TX in Grand Prairie, Texas

Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking an Aeronautical / Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Propulsion Engineer to join our creative team of engineers in Dallas, Texas. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in some of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control’s highly innovative and ingenious solutions to complex technical problems facing the aerospace industry. This specific position is related to Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion Engineering for performing research, design, analysis, evaluation, and testing in support of existing and development of aerospace products and technologies.

The propulsion engineer will work with a well-known SRM propulsion supplier, providing primary technical oversight for PAC-3 programs rapid development, test, and manufacturing of a solid rocket motor. The SRM Propulsion Engineering role will also include the following responsibilities related to the Solid Rocket Motor (SRM): will assist in the development of product specifications and statements of requirements, coordinate motor performance predictions and interfaces with the Missile IPT, develop test plans, support supplier and system level testing, coordinate and run weekly working group meetings with motor suppliers, and present motor status at informal internal meetings as well as formal program meetings with LM and the customer.

Tasks also include coordination with product design, interface development, coordination with other analysis group engineers, Materials, Production Operations, and other departments. The engineer will also be involved in maintain and release of engineering drawings and documents. PLM is used for drawing release. The position requires strong technical skills in a fast paced environment. PAC-3 MSE are premier hit-to-kill interceptors.

This position requires moderate travel in support of SRM manufacturing, program meetings and ground testing.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace

Engineering (or equivalent accredited degree

program).

-Professional, hands-on experience in propulsion

engineering.

-Strong analytical skills with a solid

understanding of the propulsion sciences

(example = thermodynamics, compressible

flow/gas dynamics, aerodynamics, computational

fluid dynamics and vehicle flight performance

parameters).

-Strong written and oral communication skills are

required

-Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance

-must be US citizen

Desired Skills:

Strong test planning, communication, and

execution skills.

Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace

Engineering

Foundational knowledge of basic design

packages such as SolidWorks, Pro-E or CATIA

Desire to work in the analysis arena to include

stress, dynamics, thermodynamics and/or

propulsion

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
