Elevance Health Cloud Solutions Engineer (US) in GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas

Cloud Solutions Engineer

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The Ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of one of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations. Ideally located in: Atlanta, GA; Richmond, VA; Mason, OH or Dallas, TX.

The Cloud Solutions Engineer performs analysis and research of systems and networks. Reviews detailed business and technical requirements in order to recommend technical solutions. Responsible for hands-on development and programming on specific cloud platforms, participating in all phases of the development and maintenance life cycle.

How you will make an impact:

  • Demonstrate maturity and understand of one or more of the following CSPs (AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle, IBM Cloud, etc.) and the perspective technology stack.

  • Be able to articulate multiple cloud environment infrastructure (Compute, Storage, Network, Backups, DR, and Monitoring)

  • Work closely and sometimes lead cross functional teams (application, platform, security, data, operations, infrastructure)

  • Create and/or help teams to build Cloud infrastructure for on-going and up-coming projects adhering to Infrastructure-as-Code principles.

  • Provides advanced level engineering design functions.

  • Develops complex solutions from business requirements and architectural specifications; provides input to set or amend architectural specifications.

  • Creates presentations and seeks IT managements approval and acceptance of significant replacements or reconfigurations of major business systems serving the enterprise.

  • Directs the construction of architecture components (e.g., data architecture, application architecture, technical architecture)

  • Participates in the design of the enterprise architecture.

  • Proposes opportunities to improve results based on targeted or continuous assessment.

  • Participates in enterprise planning activity, including vendor assessment, technology platform selection and retirement, prioritization and integration; routinely acts as a subject matter expert for executive management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 10 years in one or more of the following: information systems, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development and management required; significant experience with multiple technical and business disciplines required; broad-based experience to plan and design highly complex systems; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position (This position/candidate will support the Department of Defense Military OneSource program).

  • Security Clearance issued by Department of Defense is required as part of this role (Security Clearance at the time of hire is preferred, or you must be willing to submit and obtain necessary credentials).

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • Experience in Gov Cloud is preferred (AWS/Azure).

  • 3-5 years hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure)

  • 7 or more years multi-platform, multi database and/or multi language experience

  • GCP/AWS/Azure certified solution architect preferred

  • AWS Landing Zone solution or AWS Control Tower experience preferred

  • 1-3 years hands-on experience in Terraform scripting highly preferred

  • 1-3 years hands-on experience in Ansible scripting preferred

  • 1-3 years hands-on experience in python coding experience preferred

  • 1-3 years of experience with Source Code Management and branching usage

  • 1-3 years of experience with Event-driven, Micro-services, and Serverless development patterns in the Public Cloud (AWS preferred)

  • Expert level experience with business and technical applications; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

This job is assigned to an entity that conducts government business, the applicant and incumbent fall under a `sensitive position' work designation and is subject to additional requirements beyond those associates outside Government Business Divisions. Requirements include, but are not limited to, obtaining and maintaining a 'Secret level security clearance', which entails more stringent and frequent background checks, segregation of duties principles, role specific training, monitoring of daily job functions, and sensitive data handling instructions. Associates in these jobs must follow the specific policies, procedures, guidelines, etc. as stated by the Government Business Division in which they are employed.
