SCL Health MLS Lab Coordinator in Grand Junction, Colorado

Job Description:The MLS Lab Coordinator is an experienced Registered MLS/Med Tech who assists the Supervisor or Manager with daily department oversight and leadership of laboratory personnel. Caregivers in this role will gain valuable experience and knowledge to help prepare them for workplace and career advancement into Technical or Supervisory positions.

Job Profile:

The MLS Coordinator is an experienced Registered MLS/Med Tech who supports the department Supervisor or Manager and the clinical lab team by performing check-ins, assisting with budget management, investigating event reports, and assisting with corrective action. The MLS Coordinator is also involved with evaluating and developing efficiency and cost-reduction processes within the laboratory. Additional responsibilities of these caregivers may include assisting with technical support and training, quality management, and regulatory compliance. Intermountain caregivers in this role may have additional responsibilities and advanced leadership opportunities, such as: Developing Laboratory processes to support caregiver goal attainment Attending leadership courses provided by Intermountain Gaining a better understanding of laboratory budget and operation Developing and refining policies and procedures Training and mentoring students and other team members Acting as interim Supervisor or Manager Leading or serving on system Work Groups Managing CAP Proficiency Testing and/or personnel rosters

This position maintains their bench proficiency and may be required to work shifts within their department, including holidays and weekends, and be available on-call. Caregivers in this role have strong organizational skills as well as the ability to navigate many technical processes with a high level of detail. These caregivers work well as a member of a team and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory/medical technology science. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified. Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Scientist certification or equivalent as approved by the Manager and Human Resources. Certification must be maintained to remain in the job. Two years of clinical laboratory experience. Experience with laboratory systems, databases, and spreadsheets. Demonstrated effective communication skills using email, telephone, and in person. Experience with Laboratory regulatory agencies. Experience writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and writing other analytical documentation. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience leading, training, and education of staff at all levels. Experience supervising staff members Experience developing, leading, implementing department initiatives

Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements: Interact with others requiring the employee to verbally communicate information. Operate computers and complex and delicate lab equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. See and read lab equipment, monitors, and documents. Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer or other equipment.
