Description

OVERVIEW

The Safety Manager is responsible for championing a culture of safety, developing, and implementing safety policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. This role is critical in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and minimizing the risk of accidents or incidents. This role will have responsibility ties to more than one site with travel being necessary between sites as well.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs to create a culture of safety excellence within the organization

  • Stay abreast of local, state, and federal safety regulations and ensure the company's compliance with all applicable laws and standards

  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks across all areas of the manufacturing facility

  • Lead investigations into workplace incidents or accidents, determine root causes, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels, ensuring that all personnel are knowledgeable about and adhere to safety policies

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, ensuring employees are well-prepared to handle emergencies and crises

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with safety standards

  • Oversee the selection, use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment, ensuring that all employees have the necessary resources to work safely

  • Effectively communicate safety-related information to all levels of the organization, promoting awareness and understanding of safety initiatives

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Human Resources, Production, and Facilities, to integrate safety into daily operations seamlessly

  • Travel between sites with responsibility ties to assigned sites

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant certifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Safety Manager in a manufacturing environment

  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and training skills

  • Ability to lead and influence change to enhance safety culture

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management software

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field

LOCATION

  • Onsite Hybrid - travel between sites

SCHEDULE

  • Monday – Friday

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
