The job:

The Drug Product Division (DPD), a business within the Pharma Services Group, operates as a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) for large & specialty pharma and biotech companies. The business offers development services & commercial production of drugs, improving the life of millions of patients every day.

The Europe & Asia Business Unit includes 4 production facilities located in Western Europe (Italy, UK & France), and a greenfield site in Singapore, but it serves customers globally. The team is accountable for the underlying operational results with full ownership of the consolidated P&L (Revenues more than $1B), Balance Sheet & Cash Flow statements.

This role will report to the Vice President, Finance Drug Product, and matrix into the Business Unit Vice President & General Manager (BU VP/GM).

Leading a team of 5 direct reports (total org size c.40 associates), the Sr Director, Finance plays an important role in steering the long-term growth of the business while ensuring execution of the short-term objectives sustaining the future investments cycle.

In a fragmented market with a very dynamic demand & supply equation, this position provides sound business partnering and a thorough analytical framework to help the business do the following:

  • improve the assets' utilization, via commercial wins and operational efficiency,

  • prioritize the investment opportunities,

  • evolve the business model with the aim of delivering outstanding customer experience and generate the highest value for the company.

The role is fully remote (working from home) and can be based anywhere in Europe. Up to 30% international travel will be required, including overnight stays. Candidates should live within commuting distance of an international airport.

What will you do?

  • Deliver financial objectives through efficient resource utilization and improved execution

  • Own all the financial processes: forecast in close collaboration with Supply Chain and Business Management. Leverage the captive finance shared service centre (India) under the supervision of the Global Business Services team. Report into Group and Corporate through the standard reporting system suites & monthly and quarterly operational reviews

  • Fiduciary responsibilities involving balance sheet accuracy, internal and external audits, SOX & Systems Access compliance. Full implementation and respect of all the corporate policies

  • Own the business’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process as well as play a key role in developing the long-range strategy for the business

  • Establish and improve performance metrics to assist with investment evaluation and decision-making with accurate and timely reporting and analysis of data

  • Partner with the Commercial team to target the opportunities that are the best fit within our network of sites and improves our capabilities and capacity

  • Operate in strong alignment with the other supporting functions (i.e. Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, PPI, Procurement) to constantly improve the operational efficiency. Fully demonstrate the benefits of the digital transformation in both the finance organization itself and the total business unit

  • Recruit, retain, and grow a diverse team of Finance professionals, providing them with leadership, coaching and long-term career development

  • Remove barriers to execution by constantly re-assessing and simplifying the functional and cross-functional processes

Who we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or other relevant area

  • Extensive (c.15 years’) Finance experience with meaningful exposure to manufacturing and other operational finance settings (supply chain, large capital investments, quality, ..)

  • Supervision of large teams located across several sites and/or countries

  • Effective communication at every level of the organization

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with individuals and teams developing strong relationships

  • Focus on continuous improvement & confirmed experience in process optimization

  • Balance multiple projects and complete them in a timely and efficiently manner

  • High level of integrity and ethics, strong eye for business, and well-developed analytical skills

  • Bring a passion to mentor and empower your teams to collaborate to achieve higher business performance

  • Advanced level of business English

  • Willing and able to travel internationally up to 30% of working time, including overnight stays
