Orange-Ulster BOCES Teacher of Students with Disabilities and Science 7-12 (2 Vacancies) in Goshen, New York

Work in an exciting and meaningful field teaching children with developmental disabilities.

We are seeking 2 Teachers of Students with Disabilities and Science 7-12 to provide comprehensive services to reflect each student's developmental level.

Orange-Ulster BOCES provides the foundation and knowledge that enables its students to venture forth in any direction they choose.

Students served (K-12) include individuals with significant developmental and intellectual disabilities, social/emotional needs, behavior management needs and/or learning differences.

You’ll do this by:

  • Serving as the subject matter expert, working directly with identifying, developing and implementing appropriate instructional strategies, materials, equipment and environmental factors that will maximize a student's individual needs

  • Drafting appropriate annual goals and short-term objectives to present at the annual CSE meeting, evaluating and re-evaluating the short-term objectives on a regular basis

  • Possessing the critical thinking skills to effectively assess, develop and deliver training and information to e stablish and maintain strong relationships and regularly communicate scholars' progress towards goals

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

  • Valid NYS Certification in Special Education and Science (7-12 ). Dual Certification Required

  • Experience preparing sequential and meaningful instruction geared to the student’s assessed needs, IEP goals and objectives, functioning, and motivational levels

  • A personal drive for continuous learning and a desire to develop your skills
