Job Description Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Supplier Quality Team Leader at Dowty Propellers. Reporting to the Quality Leader, you will lead a Supplier Quality team of permanent and contracted workforce.

You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining an Approved Supplier Listing to support business and sourcing needs, driving quality improvements for all suppliers, through supplier scorecards quality improvement plans and structured RCCA programs, and

• Create and maintain supplier audit plan in line with regulatory and business standards approvals.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Supplier Quality Lead takes responsibility for communicating business goals, programs, and processes for supplier quality development. In this role you will use your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals throughout the supply chain.

  • Responsible for driving quality with suppliers and improving quality performance via Quality Improvement Plans and structured problem solving techniques

  • Support supplier selection through robust qualification processes working closely with Sourcing Leaders to manage and implement supplier/engineering changes, New Product Introductions, and component transfers

  • Accelerate improvements in supplier quality towards zero defect deliveries

  • Provide Quality Engineering support using your skills across a domain expertise group.

  • Lead Supplier Quality Engineering in new product introduction supporting and identifying new processes or advanced automated equipment in the extended supply chain.

  • Develop and execute through team supplier audit plan ensuring compliance to Company and regulatory requirements

  • Support daily business rhythms through leader standard work rhythms

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or time served apprenticeship with supporting qualifications in a relevant industry

  • Significant experience in supply chain or manufacturing roles

  • Experience in a regulated industry and / or an understanding of EASA/CAA Part21J, Part21G or Part145

  • Qualified Lead Auditor, ISO9001 or AS9100 preferred.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to influence others and lead cross functional teams in problem solving

  • Ability to travel and work effectively away from the office (up to 20%)

  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.

  • Demonstrable structure problem solving skills + Quality techniques

  • Experience and understanding of Lean principles and methods

  • Understanding of AS9100 and EASA/CAA regulations Part21J, Part21G and Part145

  • Proven analytical skills

  • A specialist understanding of one the following processes will be an advantage; composites, machining, moldings, coatings or forging.
