ASRC Federal Holding Company Network Engineer in Remote,

ASRC Federal is seeking a Network Engineer to support our internal corporate IT team.

This role will be remote but must reside within the Washington, DC metro area in order to make occasional site visits to local offices in Beltsville, MD and Reston, VA.

Key Role:

  • Leverage existing IT to develop, update, and maintain networks that allow people and systems to effectively communicate in the most cost-effective manner.

  • A strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware as well as a deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols required to create and maintain cyber security best practices would be brought to bear in the performance of everyday duties.

  • Review, plan, configure, patch, evaluate, monitor, and troubleshoot the network infrastructure and application components such as NAC, IPAM, Solarwinds, Zscaler, Load Balancers, Azure cloud networking, support daily operations and service requests, and recommend improvements to the network and implement engineering strategies to support a SolarWinds environment.

  • In addition to basic network router and switching knowledge, understanding of data center, wireless and SD-WAN technologies are desired as well as managing the Network, System and Application performance monitoring modules in Solarwinds, including monitoring, alerts, documentation of the network and systems, building, creating and automating reports and dashboards that reflect business priorities and metrics.

Requirements :

Qualifications:

  • 4 + years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure and hardware

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree (in Computer Science or related field) or equivalent

  • US citizenship required or permanent resident of the United States per ITAR regulations

  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or higher

  • Solarwinds SCP

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Visio.

  • Must have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Skill/Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and IPv4 and troubleshooting basic network connectivity such as Spanning Tree, DNS and DHCP.

  • Experience with data center and remote office technologies such as Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches, Palo Alto, Fortinet and Cisco ASA firewall, Cisco Routers, Zscaler, Citrix Netscaler, SD‑WAN, and private lines.

  • Experience with and maintaining SolarWinds and its underlying infrastructure and planning.

  • Experience with layer 2 protocols like STP, VTP, VLANs, 802.1q trunking and routing protocols like OSPF, BGP and EIGRP, security protocols SSL, VPN and IPSec/NAT.

  • Understanding and hands on experience with QoS, multicast, and NAC is a plus.

  • Experience with wireless networking. Knowledge of Cisco Wireless Controllers, CAPWAP, FlexConnect a plus.

  • Experience with networking tools such as Solarwinds, Infoblox, and Cisco ISE.
