CLASSIFIED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Food Service Clerk / Cashier

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must pass required background checks and physical

  • Considerable knowledge of computers and computer programs.

  • Must be trustworthy because of handling large sums of money.

  • Must be able to keep accurate records.

  • Needs to be able to recognize a reimbursable meal.

  • Must have some knowledge of food service sanitation and preparation.

Essential Function:

  • Needs to be able to stand for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to withstand heat and fluctuation in temperature.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to pass a food handler physical.

Reports To: Food Service Kitchen Manager

Consults With: Food Service Director and Kitchen Manager

Position Goal: The food service clerk / cashier is to maintain good public relations and accurate records of money received for meals served.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Attendance is necessary to be successful in this position.

  • The food service clerk / cashier works under the direct supervision of the kitchen Food Service Manager.

  • The Clerk / Cashier is to collect money, credit money to individual or family accounts, balance receipts with the bank deposit daily.

  • Take care of daily interactions with parents, faculty, staff, and any visitors.

  • Send payment reminder notices when necessary.

  • Send print-out of account transactions when requested by the parents.

  • Be able to recognize a reimbursable meal tray.

  • Must maintain an excellent relationship with students, parents, faculty, staff, and community.

  • Assist in kitchen duties as needed. (Cook, Dishes, Cleaning)

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Days students are in school and as needed for meals. Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one exists.

Evaluation: Food Service Director and Manager evaluate Food Service Clerk / Cashier once a year.
