WESCO Senior Analyst - Payroll Compliance in Glenview, Illinois

As a Senior Analyst - Payroll Compliance you will be responsible for providing support to the payroll team by aiding in the development and maintenance of comprehensive procedural documentation. Additionally, you will coordinate routine reviews to guarantee adherence to relevant regulations and essential process controls. Collaboration will be essential in configuring payroll and timekeeping systems, as well as enhancing reporting capabilities and respond to audit requests on behalf of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Create mechanisms to collect, maintain, and document process controls by drafting detailed procedures ensuring the team is functioning efficiently and correctly.

  • Develop system reporting, metrics, system integrations to build more robust controls and process performance measures. Collaborate with the payroll and HR systems teams to accomplish best results.

  • Generate reports from the payroll and timekeeping systems to assess audit and compliance risks while being responsible for responding to internal and external auditors.

  • Regularly review payroll processes to identify risks and recommend changes to processes or controls to address the risks. Support as needed in the regular payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely execution of payroll.

  • Assist in the regular review of procedures with the payroll team, and train new team members. When necessary, draft communication plans to explain key procedures and process changes to employees.

  • Support the continuous monitoring of changes to federal, state, and local regulations related to payroll including payroll taxation and wage & hour regulations. Assess current payroll procedures and recommend activities to address regulatory compliance risks.

  • Collaborate with the HR Systems team regarding the configuration of payroll systems in support of regulatory compliance and appropriate process controls.

  • Participate in other projects as needed, including upgrades or system conversions to ensure compliance and audit requirements are satisfied.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a large-scale payroll function. payroll accounting experience preferred.

  • Associate’s degree in business or accounting, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Working knowledge of payroll and timekeeping systems, integrations, and reporting, experience with UKG Pro and Kronos is a plus.

  • Experience supporting payroll controls including SOX compliance and experience supporting requests from internal and external audit teams.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations in the U.S., and experience in payroll regulations in Canada is preferred.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.

  • Strong analytical, process design, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to travel 0% - 25%
