Glens Falls Hospital BHS Technician in Glens Falls, New York

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides hands-on care to behavioral health inpatients, including assistance and teaching with personal hygiene and activities of daily living. BHTs employ therapeutic communication to build therapeutic alliances with patients and assist patients to maintain or achieve emotional regulation and self-control. BHTs monitor the environment to assure a safe, orderly and therapeutic milieu. BHTs monitor patients for signs/symptoms of decompensation or crisis situations and respond to those situations under the direction of the Registered Nurse. BHTs facilitate group activities under the direction of the Director of Programming and the Registered Nurse.

Education/Experience:

• Minimum of high school diploma or GED

• Experience in behavioral health care field strongly preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in human services field strongly preferred

Licenses/Certificates/Registrations:

• NAPPI Certification required (provided during unit orientation and annually)
