Summary of Role

Raytheon UK has an opportunity for an experienced Data Centre Services Engineer to join the core infrastructure team within the Digital Technology function. Reporting to the Data Centre service manager you will be responsible for the management, maintenance and upkeep of the Core Data Centre technologies and information systems in 2 main locations in the UK.

This role is critical to the core infrastructure services team, requiring a highly effective individual with strong technical skills who is excited by working in a multi-platform environment and who can drive operational excellence.

Main Duties

  • Undertake technical tasks across a broad set of datacentre and infrastructure technologies (detailed below)

  • Ensure monitoring of Data Centre hardware and software for performance and capacity, ensuring responsiveness and availability of services are maintained.

  • Identifies, plans, and drives maintenance tasks and upgrades in line with change management procedures and technical vendor guidelines to ensure quality, integrity and availability of IT services.

  • Reviews company and corporate policy and procedure documentation and ensures all IT systems and services remain in compliance with enterprise standards.

  • Adheres to incident, problem and change management processes, minimising impact, or disruption to services.

  • Ensures daily/weekly/monthly system checks as outlined in documented checklists and KPIs are performed.

  • Plans, oversees, or implements newly acquired hardware and software in line with project commitments.

  • Ensures standards of system documentation and support procedures for the DT function are maintained.

  • Be part of and hours support rota.

  • Develops approaches to improve, streamline and automate the health status of the environment.

  • Proactively identify and manage risk via the IT Risk Management process.

Candidate Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Experience across a broad range of data centre infrastructure components, including but not limited to:

  • Microsoft Server,

  • Virtualization (VMware),

  • HP Server and Storage,

  • Active Directory,

  • SCCM,

  • SCOM,

  • Backup and archive,

  • Citrix Virtual Applications and Desktop.

  • Ivanti application control and personalisation networks

  • Experienced in automation technologies.

  • ITIL qualifications and practical application experience within a service centric organisation

  • SC cleared or the ability to become SC cleared.
