TITLE: Assistant Artistic Set Painter for The Music Man Summer 2024 Musical

DEPARTMENT: Glastonbury Youth and Family Services

REPORTS TO: Creative Experiences Youth Program Supervisor

**GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the general direction of Creative Experiences staff, the Assistant Artistic Set Painter works with the Artistic Set Painter and set painting volunteers to paint the scenery of the summer musical.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assists in the management of set painting volunteers, and participates the complete set painting process. Works in conjunction with the Artistic Set Painter to plan and organize set painting schedule, including daily set up, break down and clean up.

**QUALIFICATIONS PROFILE: Has a proficient painting skill set. Ability to translate design concepts and drawings onto scenic elements. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrates patience, cooperation, team-effort and reliability. Past experience working with youth. Completion of high school/college level visual art courses preferred. Experience painting scenery for the stage preferred. Past experience teaching basic painting technique to unskilled volunteers preferred. Start/End Dates: Start/End Dates: Two planning sessions in late May and or early June, 2024; timing TBD by Artistic Set painter and summer Creative Staff. Set painting will begin 6/20/24 and be completed by 7/19/24. Approximately 16 hours of set painting per week/as determined by scenic and schedule requirements. Daytime hours, Monday-Friday. Production dates: 7/25/24, 7/26/24, and 7/27/24.
