The Department of Computer Science at Rowan University seeks to hire a leadership-focused tenure-track faculty to begin their appointment in September 2025. This is a unique opportunity to join the fastest-growing department at the third fastest-growing public research institution, as recognized by The Chronicle of Higher Education. The successful candidate will work alongside the administrative department Head, who is responsible for all the department's primary functions, operations, and vision. The responsibilities for this position will also include program development and oversight; support of research activities and student initiatives; outreach to department constituencies; contributions to service activities that further collective mission and vision at the department, college, and university levels; and will be balanced with research and teaching based on the candidate’s professional focus and current activity profile. We seek to hire a mid-career or senior faculty member, preferably with prior leadership experience.
Eligibility:
A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field is required for this position.
Candidate(s) will be hired at a level commensurate with experiences (ranging from Associate Professor to Full Professor). A proven record of effective leadership; academic program development; faculty and student mentorship; creation and growth of sustainable, externally funded research programs; and a strong commitment to excellence in leadership, research, and teaching are expected from successful candidates.

The Department of Computer Science is in a unique and exciting position: it is rapidly growing in terms of student enrollment at all levels, it is expanding and launching critical programs based on industry and learner needs, and its research culture is quickly evolving, thus opening up new avenues of collaborations and funding.
In the Fall of 2024, the Department of Computer Science was the largest on campus with over 2,000 majors (1400+ undergraduate, and 600+ graduate students). It is one of six departments in the College of Science & Mathematics, which also houses the School of Earth & Environment. The department offers the following undergraduate and graduate programs:
