International Admissions Counselor

Job Summary:

The International Admissions Counselor supports the work of The Office of International Admissions with all stages of the admissions process including recruiting, processing, admitting and enrolling international students at Rowan University. Working with the international admission staff from Rowan University’s main campus in Glassboro, NJ and reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Enrollment, the International Admissions Counselor is responsible for the managing and processing of international applications, including admission review and foreign transcript evaluation. Provides professional knowledge, advice and counseling for admission of international students. Keeps up-to-date of university admission requirements as well as special requirements within individual colleges. This position is full-time with occasional evening and/or weekend work. The remote/flexible work schedule allows a hybrid work environment of remote and on-site work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Counsel international prospective students and their families concerning application requirements and criteria, academic programs, admission policies and procedures. This includes fielding phone inquiries and in-person or virtual appointments;

  • Perform detailed and personalized outreach to prospective international students, such as phone calling, emailing, and other communications as needed;

  • Assist with all phases of the international undergraduate and graduate application process and decision making. This includes tracking the status of applicant progress through the admissions process for assigned colleges/territories;

  • Verify and evaluate foreign and domestic academic credentials. Work expeditiously and seamlessly with Rowan’s foreign credential evaluators on management, reception and verification of student documents;

  • Collect and evaluate admissions documents for eligibility making admissions decisions for assigned territory;

  • Evaluate and award undergraduate international scholarships and considers eligibility for additional scholarship awards for yield purposes;

  • Represent Rowan University and its programs at international undergraduate and graduate recruitment events as needed, such as virtual college fairs and events, which may require working a non-traditional schedule including evenings and weekends;

  • Work in conjunction with other departments (International Student Advisors, housing, advising, etc.) to ensure seamless enrollment of international students, referring students to appropriate University offices on campus as needed;

  • Assist with processing of all application materials, including all operation procedures required for completing applications, releasing decisions, as well as other materials and/or processes within The Office of International Admissions;

  • Handle Official Documents intake and processing from new incoming students. Manage and work with other members of the Operations team with duties related to maintaining and updating student data systems;

  • Train and supervise the work of student aids and interns.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree;

  • At least (2) years of direct professional experience in higher education admissions;

  • Knowledge of international student admissions rules and policies;

  • Experience in CRM or Student Information Management systems preferred;

  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills;

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism;

  • Must be able to work independently, take initiative, as well as work as a team member.
