Associate Director for Admissions

Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine (SSVM) of Rowan University is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to assume the role of Associate Director for Admissions. As a key member of the founding administration, this individual will lead the development and oversight of recruitment programs and manage the admissions process for the DVM and 3+4 Accelerated BS/DVM Pathway programs. Working within the Office of Student Success, the Associate Director for Admissions will interact with various stakeholders across SSVM and Rowan University, including financial aid, registrar, and admissions offices. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the shaping of our student body, ensuring high standards of academic excellence, diversity, and a commitment to the SSVM mission. The Associate Director for Admissions will report to the Associate Dean for Student Success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage strategic recruitment efforts and admission policies in alignment with SSVM values and goals.

  • Work closely with the Associate Dean of Student Success and the Committee on Admissions to develop and implement an admissions process that ensures the selection of a qualified and diverse student body.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure efficiency and equity in all matters related to recruitment and admissions.

  • Develop recruitment strategies to attract underrepresented students in alignment with the SSVM mission.

  • Oversee the entire admissions process, including application verification, review, interviews, and selection.

  • Maintain communications with the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges’ (AAVMC) Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS) liaison, ensuring the accessibility and functionality of the application portal and troubleshoot as needed.

  • Address student candidate inquiries regarding eligibility requirements and general admissions information.

  • Develop and implement a mechanism to provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants on approaches to strengthening future applications.

  • Implement evidence-based best practices for candidate evaluation and selection.

  • Develop, prepare, and monitor the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recruitment programs and admissions processes.

  • Provide regular reports for senior leadership on admissions trends, applicant demographics, and relevant metrics.

  • Attend relevant meetings and/or conferences, including travel as needed.

  • Conduct/perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Student Success.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, science, or related field

  • Minimum of three years of experience working in university admissions and recruitment

  • Excellent computer skills, in particular the use of databases and spreadsheets

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment

  • Strong record of successful outcomes in the development and achievement of enrollment goals

  • Ability to build and manage productive relationships with both internal stakeholders and external vendors and partners

  • Experience working with graduate and undergraduate students

  • Understanding of compliance and regulations related to recruitment and admissions processes

  • Commitment to innovation with the ability to implement new approaches for achieving enrollment goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in biological sciences, higher education, student affairs, or related field preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in university admissions and recruitment

  • Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating enrollment management practices that meet the unique needs of diverse student populations

  • Experience working with the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges’ (AAVMC) Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS)

  • Familiarity with veterinary education and the veterinary profession

The School of Veterinary Medicine is located on the Glassboro, New Jersey campus, 22 miles southeast of Philadelphia. The School of Veterinary Medicine plans to admit its first class of DVM students in 2025,

pending accreditation approval. Facilities will include an academic teaching facility aimed at the delivery of pre-clinical training, a teaching hospital, and a research facility. Major metropolitan areas in the northeast corridor (New York City, Washington, DC) are within an easy 2 to 3-hour drive. The Jersey beaches are only an hour drive from campus.
