The Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering, Division of Construction and Engineering’s growing online Construction Management program is designed for pre-apprentices, apprentices, journeypersons, and seasoned construction industry professionals alike who are looking to develop the leadership and technical skills to plan, execute, monitor, and lead the construction process. Developed by labor for labor, the program is home to (3) online stackable certificates in construction management, project management and construction leadership. The program honors the value of work-based learning experiences and apprenticeship program completion.

To support this robust growth, we seek energetic and innovative teacher-scholars as ¾ time, non-tenure track faculty who are interested in sharing their knowledge and wisdom with our students and share our commitment to excellence in engineering education.

The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching innovative and project-based lower and upper level in the BA in Construction Management curriculum including but not limited to:

Project Administration

Construction Cost Accounting, Estimating & Finance

Building Construction Systems & Codes

Advanced Leadership & Communication

The Department greatly values experiential and case-based learning; integrating emerging topics and adaptive technologies into the curriculum to support the diverse learning needs and success of all students. We seek individuals who are passionate about teaching and have the skills and dedication to develop innovative online projects and or other experiential learning activities using appropriate modern technology tools, and the ability to integrate such projects/activities into course content and formative and summative assessments to evaluate student work, assign grades, maintain required records, and advise and consult with students to ensure student success. The position also includes service responsibilities, such as helping with the department’s assessment activities. Therefore, any experience with assessment, pedagogy, and scholarship would be very valuable. A ¾ time appointment typically carries a 9-credit / semester teaching load (or 18 credits in one academic year), and pays ¾ of the applicable salary of a full-time instructor, with no other benefits.

The candidate should possess a master's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution of higher learning with a major field of study in Design, Construction, and Planning, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline with an emphasis on construction and should have demonstrated subject matter expertise and utilization of evidence-based teaching practices that actively engage all students in the learning process regardless of class modality. Individuals with (3) years of construction industry experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

The appointment is initially for the 2024 fall semester, possibly renewable based on performance, departmental needs, and university and budgetary approvals. Applicants must have current, legal authorization to work in the United States, valid at least until June 30, 2022 and preferably beyond. The University will not support visa/immigration requests for this position.
