Akebono Brake Corporation Demand Planner in Glasgow, Kentucky

Purpose/Summary

The Demand Planner is responsible for forecasting and planning the future demand for the plant products or services. They develop and maintain models to forecast short-term and long-term demand, incorporating factors such as equipment capacity, cycle times, internal production qualifications, and production plans. The Demand Planner works closely with other materials, customer service, project engineering, and program management team members to ensure that inventory levels are maintained at an optimal level to meet customer demand.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities shall include but not be limited to:

  • Analyze data to identify trends in customer demand

  • Develop forecasting models to predict future demand

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align production plans with demand forecasts

  • Monitor internal product qualification per equipment and adjust plans accordingly

  • Communicate forecast updates and recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement

  • Maintain BOM (bill of materials) database

    Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)

  •  An Associate’s Degree in a technical field of study is preferred.  

  • Technical knowledge of manufacturing processes in an automotive supplier work environment is preferred. 

    Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proven ability to work in a positive team environment is required.  

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skill.

  • Good math skills. 

  • Good personal computer knowledge using Microsoft Office software and QAD.

  • Must be able to demonstrate good decision-making and problem-solving skills.

                While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand walk/move; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment requires hearing protection.
