JOB SUMMARY

The Shovel Welder will weld and maintain equipment and facilities with main focus on shovels (Marion/BE/PandH/BI).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Able to meet the physical demands as indicated in the physical demands analysis
  • Troubleshoot equipment
  • Read, interpret and apply manuals and schematics information to jobs
  • Maintain safe work record, be proactive in safety habits and behaviors
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Assist in work/tasks planning and organizing
  • Communicate with on-shift coordinator and operations personnel
  • Follow all mine safety requirements and best practices
  • Utilize team skills/tools and participate in focus groups, team's meetings, AIP's
  • Work 12 hour rotating shift
  • Attend all team meetings
  • Other job assignments as requested
  • Comply with Company drug and alcohol policy

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY

  • Minimum of one (1) year welding experience in a coal mining or heavy industrial setting
  • Effective communication skills (verbal, written, listening)
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Demonstrated regular and predictable attendance
  • Ability to make decisions
  • Ability to perform quality work
  • Must be able to operate or be familiar with equipment
  • Self-directed and motivated, must handle change constructively
  • Must demonstrate a sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and qualifications in mechanical maintenance

PREFERRED

  • Minimum of three (3) years welding experience in a coal mining or heavy industrial setting
  • Certificate or degree in welding
