Adecco has partnered with a local client in the steel industry to fill the role of an inventory specialist.

As an Inventory Specialist, your primary responsibility is to manage and control inventory levels within the organization. You play a crucial role in maintaining accurate inventory records, optimizing stock levels, and ensuring the availability of materials needed for production.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory management process, including receiving, storing, and issuing materials. Implement inventory control measures to ensure accurate stock counts, minimize discrepancies, and prevent stockouts or overstocks. Regularly review inventory levels, analyze usage patterns, and communicate required changes to reorder points.

  2. Receiving and Inspection: Coordinate the receiving of materials, ensuring accurate documentation, and quality control of incoming goods. Tag all incoming material accurately, efficiently, and timely. Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies or issues related to received materials.

  3. Stock Control and Analysis: Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock counts, and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and system records. Analyze stock data to identify slow-moving or obsolete items, and take appropriate actions such as liquidation, disposal, or reordering.

  4. Inventory Reporting: Conduct accurate inventory reports, including stock levels, consumption rates, and inventory valuation. Provide regular updates to management, highlighting key inventory performance indicators, and recommending actions to optimize stock control and cost efficiency.

  5. Systems and Processes: Utilize inventory management systems or software to track and manage inventory. Contribute to the development and improvement of inventory management processes, including the implementation of live barcode scanning, automation, or other technologies to streamline operations.

  6. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as procurement, production, and finance to ensure alignment between inventory requirements and organizational goals. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and logistics partners to coordinate inventory-related activities and resolve issues promptly.

  7. Compliance and Auditing: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies related to inventory management, storage, and documentation. Participate in internal or external audits, providing accurate inventory data and supporting documentation as required.

  8. Support the Manager of Inventory as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Education: A high school diploma or equivalent work experience is required. Additional certifications or training in inventory management or supply chain-related fields are advantageous.

  2. Industry Experience: Previous experience in inventory management, preferably within the steel industry or a related manufacturing environment, is highly desirable. Familiarity with steel products, raw materials, and production processes is beneficial.

  3. Knowledge and Skills: Solid understanding of inventory management principles, including inventory control techniques, stock valuation, and cycle counting. Proficiency in using inventory management systems or software and data analysis tools. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential.

  4. Analytical Abilities: Ability to analyze inventory data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Proficiency in using spreadsheets and other tools to generate reports, perform data analysis, and present findings.

  5. Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with stakeholders at various levels of the organization. The ability to communicate inventory-related information clearly and concisely to facilitate collaboration and problem-solving.

  6. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve inventory-related issues, such as discrepancies, stockouts, or excess inventory. Ability to proactively address challenges and implement process improvements.

  7. Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Additional Requirements:

  • This is a warehouse role, and forklift experience is required .

  • Physical Stamina and Safety Awareness: Demonstrate physical stamina to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods in a fast-paced industrial setting while prioritizing safety protocols and procedures. Adhere to safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow proper material handling practices to prevent injury.

  • Team Collaboration and Time Management: Exhibit strong teamwork skills, collaborating effectively with colleagues to achieve common goals and objectives. Support teammates and assist with tasks outside primary responsibilities as necessary for operational efficiency. Manage time proficiently, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines in a dynamic work environment. Adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining focus on long-term objectives.

Pay Details: $18.00 to $21.00 per hour
