Job Description

It’s an exciting time to be part of the Nutrition & Biosciences family at IFF. We are a global leader in the industrial biotechnology sector which develops innovative enzymes and bio-products to improve the performance and reduce the environmental impact of the cleaning, textiles, animal nutrition, grain processing and other chemicals industries.

We are currently seeking a Production Supervisor for the hours of 5pm -5am with rotating weekend schedule who will be responsible for the operations line management at our Gibson City, IL location.

This role supervises a staff of production employees. Manages production team activities in accordance with production schedules ensuring unit goals are achieved. Ensures adherence to established operations and safety policies and procedures. Maintains standards in the areas of safety, food safety, housekeeping, attendance, operational discipline, process safety management, and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance. Responsible for communications up and down the line and for assuring that communications from team members are accurate and complete. Responsible for responding to personnel, operational, and safety, and environmental incidents.

Job Requirements

  • Role model, establish expectations, and drive accountability in Core Values, e.g. Safety/Food Safety, Ethical Behavior, Respect for People, Environmental Stewardship.

  • Provide production coverage support for assigned shift (5pm -5am). First call point of contact for production issues/area emergencies for shift.

  • Ensure safety in day-to-day activities through execution of site safety policies including proper permitting, safety audits, housekeeping, incident investigation/recommendation implementation.

  • Maintains and updates operating procedures and job task analyses in assigned area using the document management system.

  • Direct production team in activities such as coordination of competing production priorities and troubleshooting of process and mechanical reliability issues.

  • Work directly with maintenance and technical resources (engineers, laboratory analysts, etc.) to help resolve production issues as well as on continuous improvement activities focused on unit processes and equipment.

  • Manages/supports team and team members’ performance including shift staffing needs, overtime requirements, performance appraisals, and identifying and resolving performance issues.

  • Maintains electronic employee data including accurate weekly time keeping records.

  • Supports development of team member functional knowledge, skills (technical & soft), and abilities through formal training activities and mentorship/coaching.

  • Perform job duties in a manner that follow food safety and quality guidelines as defined by the department.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years manufacturing/production facility experience, with two years’ experience in a lead operator or equivalent capacity.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to utilize common computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SAP, SharePoint, etc.

  • Demonstrated communication (written & oral) effectiveness

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical problem solving skills including data collection/analysis and solution definition/implementation

  • Ability to manage multiple work streams necessary to meet plant targets, business objectives, and customer needs.

  • Demonstrated team leadership through successful team building, skill development, and change management.
