Job Summary
The Radar Systems Engineer will be responsible for the definition of radar system architectures, the development of concepts of operations for the radar system, the design of radar processing algorithms, and the development and decomposition of system, hardware and software requirements, and support integration of radars into counter-defensive systems.
Opportunities also exist to perform statistical analysis of the radar system performance using real and/or simulated data. Work is performed in a dynamic and collaborative development environment in support of multiple research and development efforts, working with internal and external customers across related programs.

Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Development
Involved with the analysis, design, development and implementation of new and/or existing systems/sub-systems. May include Architectural Design, Requirements Engineering, or others. Determine system specifications. Support acquisition of hardware and software (or subcontractor services as needed).
Responsible for driving technology and completion of activity on time and budget
Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems
Ability to complete a technical project independently
Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements
Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required
Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
May mentor and coach the work of others as assigned
Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 10 years of experience related to Systems/Software Engineering architecture, requirements, determination, development, and implementation
DOD Secret level clearance or ability to obtain a clearance
Mastery of technologies and domain knowledge
Experience leading the development of systems engineering artifacts such as System/Subsystem Requirements Documents (SRD), Architecture Diagrams, Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM), and Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP).
Ability to interact with customers to define requirements, solutions, trades, costs, implementation, system impacts, and effectiveness
Experience working with Matlab, DOORS, Cameo System Modeler
Proven ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues
Desired Qualifications
Prior systems engineering experience on US DoD projects utilizing Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
Familiar in architecture, hardware, software, and system integration of AESA radars
Experience with radar system concepts; detection, discrimination, track and signal processing algorithms and their behaviors and performance
Familiarity with some of the different missions our radars can conduct active protection, vehicle protection, hostile fire detection, counter-UAV, counter-UAS, all-threat air surveillance and 3D perimeter surveillance.
Ability to create and deliver both informational and technical briefings; Technical writing experience, in generating technical documents in support of program and proposal documentation, to include CONOPS, Test Plans, etc.
Experience with the development and coding of system models, algorithms, test vectors and analysis tools in support of analyzing radar requirements and performance
Knowledge of Electronic Warfare/Electronic Attack/Electronic Protection techniques
Experience with using Jira as a task management and issue tracking tool
Experience with Agile and DevOps
U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
The expected pay scale for this position is $142,230/year - $220,813/year. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, Leonardo DRS considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
