Tidelands Health Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Georgetown, South Carolina

Position Summary : Provides direct support to pre – and – post procedure nurses relative to patient care and management.

Responsibilities include :

  • Transport patients to and from room(s) as directed by Charge Nurse

  • Supply patients with post-procedure beverages

  • Transport recovered patients to personal vehicle via wheelchair, as directed by RN

  • Assist patients with toileting, if directed by RN

  • Assist with disconnecting monitors from patients (ie, blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, EKG leads), if directed by RN, followed by cleaning cables after use

  • Assist patients with dressing prior to discharge

  • Assist patients with mobility between stretcher and wheelchair

  • Check vital signs, if directed by RN

  • Answer phones and communicate with recovery staff

  • Strip, disinfect and make up stretchers with clean linen

  • Manage linen (remove full bags, restock clean shelves, restock blanket warmer)

  • Restock supplies

  • Report any non-functioning equipment in need of repair to Charge Nurse

  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience :

  • Two (2) years previous healthcare experience required

Education :

  • High-school graduate, or equivalent

  • Completion of state approved course of study for Nursing Assistant training and/or documented completion of military equivalent, and/or successful completion of fundamentals semester of nursing school preferred.

Licenses/Certifications :

  • American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :

  • Requires the use of computers, EMR software

  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task

  • Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers

Physical Requirements : Medium Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 20 to 35 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
