Campus Title Lecturer In Finance

Department School of Business

Position Summary

The School of Business at SUNY Geneseo is recruiting for an anticipated opening of a Lecturer of Finance who also serves as the Director of the Internship Program. The position reports directly to the Dean of the School of Business. The initial appointment is for one year and is eligible for renewal.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining relationships with existing internship sponsors, developing new internships, working with students interested in internships and providing them with information about appropriate internship possibilities, overseeing interns, collecting evaluative information from internship sponsors, determining the final grade for each intern, liaising with the College’s Career Design Center on the internships, collecting and forwarding assessment data from internship sponsors to the School’s Assurance of Learning Committee.

Apart from supervising student interns, the Director teaches 3 courses each academic year. Courses may include Managerial Finance, Corporate Finance, Investments, Portfolio Management, or other business courses consistent with academic preparation, professional experiences, and the emerging needs of the School.

The Director also holds other service obligations such as attending faculty meetings, serving on committees, participating in curriculum development, supervising student clubs, and organizing extracurricular activities such as internship and job fairs. As a full-time participating faculty, the Director is a voting member of the School.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree or higher in finance or a related business discipline in an accredited higher education institution

  • Prior professional experience in finance or accounting fields.

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of students and stakeholders.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified by Chartered Financial Analyst ( CFA ).

  • Prior experience and success in teaching finance courses at an accredited higher education institution.

  • Prior experience in advising and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.
