Position Description:

 

Wade Trim is seeking a Substation Electrical Engineering Summer Intern for our ICE group in our Michigan offices. Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (junior or senior status preferred) and possess valid driver's license. Familiarity with Microsoft Office is required. Candidates must be self-motivated, very organized and have excellent communication skills.

 

This position will design electrical installation and protective relaying and control (PR&C) components for electrical substation projects, including but not limited to, substation equipment layout, detailed electrical installation design, and PR&C design steel design, in accordance with governing industry codes and standards.

 

This position requires periods of intense concentration. This position is hybrid, with the option to be within a normal office environment, work fully remote, or a combination thereof. This position requires infrequent travel.

 

This position will provide frequent exposure to electrical design standards and codes, including but not limited to, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and NESC.

Typical responsibilities include:

- - Assist in the design of high voltage substations, including electrical installation design and PR&C design with an emphasis on continuous improvement - Assist in the preparation of one-line diagrams, electrical installation plans, section views, and details - Assist in the preparation of panel elevations and PR&C schematic, wiring, and interconnection diagrams - Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations - Assist in the preparation of construction drawings - Assist in the preparation of construction specifications, project documents, and bill of material lists - Attend site visits if possible - Assist Project Managers - Maintain a safe working environment

Education:

- - Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

Skills/Experience:

- - Valid Driver's License is required - Excellent organizational and communication skills are required
