General Summary:

Under general supervision, responsible for daily reconciliation of vehicle inventory. Facilitates the direction of work and disseminates tasks from the Reconditioning Production Manager to Reconditioning Associates in the areas of zone maintenance, prep for delivery, vehicle receiving, inventory transfers, scanning and reconciliation of inventory, and vehicle movement (on and off lot). Reports behaviors, attendance, performance, and tardiness of Reconditioning Associates to Supervisor.

On as needed basis, responsible for Reconditioning Associate and Reconditioning Associate I and II duties including but not limited to, zone maintenance, prep for delivery, vehicle receiving, inventory scanning, vehicle movement (both on and off lot), basic vehicle detailing including car wash, wash bay, interior cleaning,/vacuuming, exterior cleanliness, completing cosmetic inspection, final quality inspections, paint touch-up, wet sanding and buffing.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Train and mentor associates in performance of standardized work

  • Document, improve and ensure compliance of standardized work

  • Facilitate direction of work and tasks to Reconditioning Associates in all inventory areas

  • Ensure timely performance of all inventory functions

  • Direct and approve work of vendors

  • Perform daily reconciliation of vehicle inventory

  • Participate in problem solving and continuous improvement activities

  • Provide auction support

  • Provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers

  • Complete duties as assigned by Leads and Managers

Job Specifications:

Position requires the following pre-requisites and ability:

  • Complete all training, on-line and hands-on including New Associate Orientation Training – Operations and Kronos Training.

  • Accountable to Associate 1 Competency Model

  • Meet Reconditioning Associate, Reconditioning I and Reconditioning II Performance Standards

  • Complete Reconditioning Associate, Reconditioning Associate I II and IV Workstation Certifications

  • Read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records

  • Perform multiple duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment

  • Lift objects that weigh as much as 50lbs

  • Speak and listen effectively in dealing with customers/associates, both in person and over the phone

  • Complete CarMax provided training in all functional areas of the inventory process, allowing for cross-training and full coverage of the inventory and detail area

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor and outdoor environment; may include working at times in noisy and/or inclement weather conditions.

  • Requires walking or standing for an extended periods of time.

  • Wears CarMax clothing (acquired through company) at all times working in the store.

  • Follows all CarMax, O.S.H.A., and EPA standards including the use of Personal Protective Equipment, and proper waste disposal in required areas.

  • Adheres to all CarMax policies including, but not limited to: Attendance, Proper Recording of Time, Asset Protection, Safety and Standards of Professional Appearance.
