SUMMARY

Prepares cost estimates for private and public earthwork, concrete, and asphalt paving projects. Oversees all administrative, operational, and technical aspects of projects including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyze contract documents, plans and specifications and evaluate project work scopes

  • Verify necessary work quantities and assign appropriate resources and productivity rates

  • Evaluate design options and recommend alternative solutions or approaches as needed to secure work

  • Create and submit bid proposals as required

  • Negotiate and secure contracts

  • Schedule equipment, personnel, materials, and subcontractors in cooperation with Project Superintendent to complete projects efficiently and effectively

  • Recognize and resolve problems on assigned projects in cooperation with Project Superintendent

  • Monitor daily job costs and implement cost control plans to construct projects under budget

  • Manage project finances during construction, including job to date revenues and cost to complete

  • Review and approve pay estimates and/or generate billings

  • Authorize all project transactions for materials and subcontractors

  • Ensure implementation of safety programs, company procedures, policies, and quality standards are met

  • Maintain positive customer relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and or Construction Management and five (5) + years of experience in related field preferred

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

  • Must have good organizational skills

  • Must be quick to adapt and able to thrive in a fast paced, high pressure environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HCSS HeavyBid essential

  • Problem solving skills with attention to detail

  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
