Gregory Poole Equipment Company, Inc. Sales Application Engineer - Generator in Garner, North Carolina

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Planning, managing and engineering Electric Power Systems Sales Department projects. Maintain project profitability and insure the proper application of Caterpillar engine generators and switchgear. Insure adherence to specifications through selection and procurement of equipment. Provide technical information for sales staff and start-up technicians through on-line sources and contacts such as CAT factory personnel.Provides individualized technical information/support to the GP EPG Sales Associates, customers and site contractors, either in person or through telephone or electronic communications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide technical support for current and/or potential EPG Sales Operations Projects. Review project specifications and design documents in order to identify misapplications, hidden costs and to possibly find a better way to do the job (i.e. maintain or increase profit).

``` - Interface with vendors to ensure compliance of product offerings with project plans and specifications.

``` - Create and assemble project technical submittal in accordance with project needs, plans, and specifications. Insure timely submittal production and approval through the contractor/engineer/owner.

``` - Create and maintain a project cost worksheet to ensure project profit goals are met. Prepare project invoicing folder for Sales Admin Manager.

``` - Provides daily/weekly project team updates insuring all sales staff, engineering staff, administration staff are informed about sales project status, problems and profit margins.

``` - Conduct on-site visitation of projects as needed to prepare for equipment delivery, installation and start-up. Notifies installing contractor(s) of site deficiencies that must be corrected prior to delivery, installation or start-up. Provides technical assistance and support to Start-Up personnel, Contractors, Engineers or owners as needed.

``` - Coordinates start-up schedule and training schedule of GP Start-Up Technicians.

``` - Maintains a visible presence at Start-Ups to reinforce our customer commitment on an as needed basis.

``` - Responsible for accurate and complete Start-Up documentation and its timely entry into the Service Systems through the Gregory Poole Service Department.

``` - Develops a "punch list" through Contractor, Engineer and customer feedback and insures that the items on the list are resolved as quickly as possible.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review all product and sales literature to ensure product knowledge is current.

``` - Attend training and seminars as necessary to maintain knowledge of product offerings.

SPECIAL PROJECTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes special projects as assigned by management.

``` - Position is eligible to be listed on GPEC Unlimited Electrical license upon successful completion of NC Electrical Licensing requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or degree in Construction Management with at least 4 years of experience with electrical power systems.

Work Experience:

At least four years of electrical project or construction management with exposure to diesel and natural gas driven generators, automatic transfer switches, and switchgear.

Physical:

Must be able to sit for long periods using PC software and talking on the telephone. Must be able to travel routinely (air and car) to visit customer locations or vendor/manufacturer facilities as needed.Must be able to stand, stoop and climb for on-site inspections.

Other:

Must have a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Must have intermediate/advanced PC skills, CAD(preferably AutoCAD)and Microsoft Office 365.
