Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer Level 1 will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and compliance of the NTT Data Center physical infrastructure, equipment, and personnel. The Security Officer Level 1 (L1) will work closely with the Data Center Operations Team (DCOPS) to ensure that security measures are in place and functioning properly. The Security Officer L1, an entry level position and is responsible for the administrative and operational duties associated with a site security team.

This position is client-facing, clear and concise communication is required. Security Officer L1 is responsible for protection of personnel and company property, manages access control, monitors CCTV systems, responding to incidents, and completing written reports. Team members are expected to collaborate with other departments to assist with matters pertaining to the efficient operation of the data center, including Shipping & Receiving. The position enforces and adheres to security procedures based on policies determined by the Security Management team. Your vigilance and attention to detail will contribute to maintaining a secure environment for the NTT Data Center customer and the infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures that all employees, clients, vendors, and visitors on company property have proper company-issued identification.

  • Patrols assigned post on foot to maintain visibility and observes possible unusual activity.

  • Ensures that the client, its associates, and NTT Data Center personnel are provided with a safe and professional work environment.

  • Investigates, addresses if possible, and report security, maintenance, and safety conditions.

  • Ensures daily administrative documentation is concise and complete at all times.

  • Maintains assigned equipment is functional and in presentable condition.

  • Assist personnel with requests.

  • Completes various company or client assignments as required.

  • Assists with Shipping and Receiving tasks.

  • Responds to emergencies- coordinates with local emergency management resources

  • Investigates and reports fires, evacuations, hazardous situations/other facility related events.

  • Maintains familiarity of Security procedures and policies in addition to Company policies.

  • Exposure to investigations involving security related accidents/incidents, interviews witnesses, complaints, and victims; gather and preservation of property

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Experience with standard methods, practices, tools and equipment for the security team.

  • Strong observational and surveillance skills, with the ability to detect and respond to security threats or breaches effectively.

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules.

  • Excellent ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal methods with clients, vendors, and co-workers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Additional education or training in security-related fields is a plus.

  • Six Months experience in security roles, preferably in a data center or similar environment.

  • Experience in the administration and operation of: access control systems, CCTV systems with digital recording, and photo ID systems preferred.

  • Demonstrated integrity, honesty,, and reliability in fulfilling security responsibilities.

  • Possession of relevant certifications such as Certified Security Guard (CSG) or Certified Protection Officer (CPO).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Approximately equal amount of time sitting and walking.

  • Requires ability to bend, reach and stand for extended periods.

  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone and walkie-talkie.

  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

  • Requires ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Requires the ability to climb stairs and ladders.

WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Data Center environment, including outside perimeter and grounds.

  • Exposure to all types of weather conditions.

  • Exposure to unpleasant fumes and odors.

  • Exposure to hazardous work environments.

  • Must work on-site; no telecommuting.

  • Must follow PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) guidelines as determined for the position.

  • Must wear NTT security uniform and proper footwear and present a professional customer-facing image. Unless part of a religious accommodation, no visible piercings other than a maximum of 2 stud ear piercings permitted; no unusual/non-traditional hair colors such as green or hot pink. No visible inappropriate tattoos as determined by Security Manager and Human Resources.

  • Must be comfortable working in a highly critical, highly confidential, fast paced environment with shifting priorities.

  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations at the data center.

  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays and be part of on-call protocol.

  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued Driver’s License.

  • CPR/First Aid Certification (can be obtained in first 6 months working for NTT).

This position requires work to be done onsite at a data center facility and may require use of a personal mobile device. A monthly stipend will be provided to cover expenses incurred for using a personal device, if applicable.

NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Hourly base salary for this position is $16.60 - $20.70 and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance to local state and federal ‘Wage and Hour’ requirements.

All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
