Behavioral Health Primary Therapist - Part-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Behavioral Health Therapist for the Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic provides quality and organized psychotherapy (individual, group and family) and social services for identified clients and families, with special emphasis on treatment and discharge planning needs. This position maintains accurate and up-to-date knowledge of all relevant regulations and standards regarding the provision of behavioral health services, and implementation of treatment and discharge planning. The BH Therapist assures the quality provision of services, collection/maintenance of data, and discharge planning/aftercare are all according to CVMC policies and procedures. This position will also demonstrate professional/ethical behavior and support the philosophy of the Behavioral Health department, as well as CVMC at all times.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in a mental Health field from an accredited Graduate School or a degree that supports an alternative acceptable licensure.
  • CPC, LMFT, LCSW full unrestricted licensure acceptable.
  • CPR Certification (or able to obtain within 90-days of hire).
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification (or able to obtain within 90-days of hire).
  • Ability to be credentialed with all CVMC payors within six (6) months of hire.
  • Three (3) years of clinical experience within a behavioral health program providing individual, group and family therapy, including crisis intervention/management.
  • Outpatient clinic and/or IOP experience preferred.
  • Must meet any applicable state certification standards.
  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of de-escalation, negotiation, communication (verbal and written), conflict resolution, interdisciplinary collaboration, care/case management, creative problem solving, and critical thinking.
  • Knowledge of community mental health resources, knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid practices and insurance requirements as these relate to continuing care.
  • Knowledge of outpatient behavioral health services, including community and organizational resources, and clientcare process.
  • Knowledge of medications commonly used in mental health and familiarity with medical terminology and conditions as these impact treatment and discharge needs.
  • Basic knowledge of quality improvement/utilization management relating to third-party payers.
  • Organizational, verbal, interpersonal, client relations, analytical, grammar/spelling, reading/comprehension of written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of effective individual and team communication techniques.
  • Knowledge of corporate compliance practices.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Client Care

  • Assess clients to develop individualized plan for care, provide treatment, evaluate the effectiveness of treatment, and facilitate discharge planning/aftercare.
  • Gather information from various sources to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of client's individualized plan related to their condition(s), presentation/participation within the program, and reaching outcomes and goals.
  • Manage time and caseload effectively. Completes all paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients, ensure confidentiality is maintained, and adhere to all local, state, and federal privacy laws related to the practice of mental health and substance abuse.
  • Conduct support groups (both internal and external) as requested.

Education/Regulations

  • Participate in regular treatment team meetings and clinical supervision.
  • Maintain required Continuing Education (CEU) connected to state license.
  • Represent the program at educational meetings as requested by management.
  • Work cooperatively with management to ensure that all relevant local, state, and federal egulations and standards are met, including state licensure requirements.
