We currently have an exciting opportunity to gain hands on experience as a Fabricator C. This role is based in Garden City, Kansas.

Job Summary:

As a Fabricator C, you will be responsible for producing/preparing products for customers based on orders that have been received. The successful candidate will focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Principle Accountabilities:

Cutting plastic piping materials on various saws in the fabrication shop

Drilling and grinding plastic materials

Fill out production sheets

Apply PVC primer and adhesive to assemble fabricated fittings.

Expanding and pulling socket joints on plastic material using various heat forms (i.e. glycol tanks and dry heat)

Visually inspect, measure, and approve materials before and after process steps to ensure quality compliance.

Responsibly use and care for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Install bevels on pipe ends using bevel table.

Housekeeping to keep work area clean and orderly.

Assigned duties as deemed vital by management.

Current Working Hours and Starting Salary

The work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The pay starts at $19.07 per hour with plenty of opportunities for advancement.

Skills, attendance, personal goals as well as ability are supervised closely. We are very proactive at providing feedback to aid in advancing within the different levels of production.

Skills and Training Gained in This Position

Proficiently setup and operate the following pieces of equipment: ring saw, band saws, jigsaw, stationary routers, hand held routers, glycol tanks, hydraulic presses, pulling machines, angle grinders, die grinders, large facing grinder, drill press, hand drills and basic hand tools.

Proficiently fabricate the following fittings: tees, reducing tees, single and double reduction reducers, couplings, elbows and various custom fittings.

Identify hydraulic forming mandrels.

Hydraulic press set-ups

Measure angles using a digital or mechanical angle finder

Read and understand imperial measurements

Knowledge of Health and Safety practices

Comprehend production work orders and travelers

Read sketches and simple drafted drawings

Requirements

  • Basic Math skills, including geometry, fractions, angles.

  • Ability to perform physical labor of up to 50 lbs. in weight which may include lifting, pushing or pulling.

  • Perform housekeeping chores such as sweeping & picking up material at floor level which may involve kneeling, stooping, bending and/or squatting

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing plant environment

  • Be on your feet for long periods of time with a 20-minute lunch break throughout your normal shift, a short break will be provided after 8 ½ hrs during overtime periods.

  • Work in plant environment where in the summer can reach temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit

  • Requires good mobility and involves considerable routine walking, standing for 10+ hours, bending, and lifting up to a maximum of 50 lbs.

  • The use of hand tools including heat forming, pulling, belling, caps, reducer, saws, gluing

  • Fast-paced environment where a considerable amount of sensory attention is required
