Robert Half Project Accountant in Galveston, Texas

Description

Robert Half is currently working with a client seeking a Project Accountant. The Project Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions associated with assigned projects. You will work closely with and provide support to the Project Managers for the respective projects, serve as a liaison between the Operations and Accounting Departments and assist with budgets and other financial projections related to the projects as well as with project costs, revenues, and cash flow analysis.

This position will be under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer.

•Provide Project Managers with weekly/monthly data such as unit and job costs, purchase orders issued for the period, and any such other accounting information requested.

•Assist in the tracking of invoices, purchase orders, discrepancies, etc. on an as requested basis.

•Monitoring of rental equipment used on jobs, runtime, downtime, rental duration.

•In conjunction with Project Manager, develop the Period End cost to complete reports for the projects

•Assist Project Managers in the preparation and updating of project reports, giving explanations for significant variances between budgeted and actual costs and revenues on a timely basis.

•Assist the Controller with the Period End closings activities, as needed.

•Travel to project sites to correlate with the Project Managers on project costs.

•Performs other related duties as assigned, as time permits.

•Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and continuous improvement of existing Company programs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; or related experience.

•4+ years of corporate accounting experience including 3 years in month end close procedures.

•At least 3 years of experience in construction accounting

•Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel and Word

•Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess a “Hands-on” attitude.

•Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and perform self-review of work product for quality in a dynamic environment.

•Must have strong communication skills with ability to interact/develop strong internal peer working relationships

•Preferred experience in a project cost accounting environment.

•Ability to comply with safety rules and regulations.

•Ability to work effectively and efficiently

•Ability to work away from home at remote project locations for extended durations.

•Must be reliable and motivated.

•Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

•Competencies: stress management/composure, teamwork, results driven.
