JOB DESCRIPTION:

The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position with the possibility of extension depending on funding and performance evaluation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan and perform experiments independently, with assistance of the PI

  • Prepare lab reports weekly and draft the progress report every three months

  • Writes protocol, including optimization procedures

  • Interacts with graduate students, if necessary, provide technical guidance

  • Capable of presenting data at meeting, conferences etc.

  • Performs related duties as assigned, including routine weekly duty in the regular and high containment laboratory

  • Assist with ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment and with general maintenance of laboratory.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in the field of cellular/molecular biology, immunology and/or microbiology or related fields.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to perform experiments with bench skills

  • Ability to observe and record experiments/research and report accurately

  • Ability to organize the experimental results and drafting manuscript

  • Mentoring and teaching experimental skills for graduate students

  • Presentation skills

  • Technical expertise in molecular biology and immunology, including immunoprecipitation, PCR, immunoblotting, ELISA and/or flow cytometric analysis, are preferred.

  • Other research experience including cell culture and animal handling are preferred.

  • Working experience in BSL3 would be an additional competency.
