JOB DESCRIPTION:

The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position and is not expected to be a permanent position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan and perform experiments independently

  • Prepare lab reports and manuscripts

  • Performs a variety of immunology and virology assays and procedures including cell culture, ELISA, western blot, PCR, plaque assay, and flow cytometry

  • Assists with the conduct of studies with animals

  • Interacts and perform team studies with other researchers, including graduate students and research staff

  • Capable of presenting data at scientific meetings

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

• Ability to plan and perform experiments independently

• Ability to observe and record experiments/research and report accurately

• Writing skills for protocols, reports, journal manuscripts and funding applications

• Mentoring and teaching skills for interaction with graduate students

• Presentation skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in Virology or Immunology or related fields.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior training/experience with animal and/or immunological studies.

SALARY:

Commensurate with experience.
