REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

High school or equivalent. Must be able to successfully complete the following training requirements: Automated hearing screening, Infection control, universal precautions, and CPR. 60 hrs of college credit preferred, health-care experience preferred

Good computer skills, including data entry; basic verbal skills; good interpersonal skills; able to use automated optoacoustic emissiom and auditory brainstem response screening equipment.

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs newborn hearing screenings using automated screening equipment. Assists junior staff as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares equipment for testing, including daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks

  • Performs automated hearing screenings.

  • Obtains, imports, and/or enters patient demographic information into screening equipment/database.

  • Downloads screening results from hearing screening device into database.

  • Charts screening results in electronic medical records

  • Arranges and coordinates follow-up for outpatient screening appointments

  • Participates in preparation of the monthly screener schedules

  • Prepares screening result letters; provides written and verbal results to parents/caregivers

  • Performs daily biological equipment calibration and probe checks to ensure proper functioning of equipment.

  • Maintains patient’s privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times.

  • Stays abreast of new/improved techniques within the scope of responsibility.

  • Performs related duties as required.
