Job Title: Staff AccountantJob Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks, including maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial statements, and managing accounts payable and receivable. This role requires a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general ledger accounting and other related duties for the organization.

  • Maintain the general ledger.

  • Serve as a liaison between the plant and shared services AR and AP.

  • Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.

  • Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books.

  • Reconcile bank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.

  • Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manage accounts receivable collections.

  • Verify and/or complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.

  • Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.

  • File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.

  • Manage the purchasing and invoicing system.

  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • 3 to 5 years of Staff Accountant experience.

  • General ledger experience.

  • Experience working in an ERP system.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

  • Manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Experience with cost accounting, month-end closing, journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial statements, and Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables.

  • Ability to assist in quarterly cycle counting.

Work Environment

This role involves prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, particularly within a manufacturing setting. The position may require occasional physical activity, such as assisting in quarterly cycle counting.
