Department Summary:

The National Cybersecurity Division of the National Cybersecurity FFRDC (NCF) is part of the Center for Securing the Homeland (CSH). The NCF is focused on the development and implementation of best practices and technological advancements for current and emerging technology areas related to cybersecurity. The National Cyber Impact Manager will be responsible for developing and executing a growth strategy for the NCF. This role will be a key driver to increasing the impact of the NCF through greater expansion of our current work program and identifying new opportunities. The National Cyber Impact Manager will also coordinate internally with other MITRE divisions to identify opportunities for the NCF to positively impact their sponsor missions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a growth strategy for the NCF across federal agencies (including the Whitehouse), state and local, and non-for profits.

  • Expand the impact of the division through targeted engagement with the executive sponsor, other government agencies, state/local/international organizations as well as industry.

  • Shape the FFRDCs portfolio to ensure we are working on the Sponsor and nations most pressing cyber challenges and delivering impactful and actionable products.

  • Partner across MITRE to identify relevant opportunities to connect Sponsors, work programs, and internal MITRE capabilities to advance Sponsor outcomes and increase efficiencies.

  • Identify capabilities, labs, and offerings to invest in to increase our ability to grow the work program

  • Provide leadership, promote collaboration, drive strong team cohesion and high performance while helping to shape the organization to enhance our ability to grow

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 10 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 7 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Technical expertise and recognition in a branch of cybersecurity.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate challenging technical concepts to both untrained and expert audiences.

  • Inspires trust through vision for the program and the work environment they create; a demonstrated leader MITRE people want to follow.

  • Can-do attitude and history of entrepreneurial success.

  • Ability to exert meaningful influence over strategic decisions in complex, multi-stakeholder, and collaborative environments.

  • Demonstrated track record in learning about and rapidly responding to new problems across a variety of domains.

  • Demonstrated understanding of state of the art and best practices in cybersecurity and key technical communities outside of MITRE.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in both virtual and live presentation of complex technical issues.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Fitness clearance within one year of employment.

  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, cybersecurity related technical field or equivalent practical experience

  • Ability to create, articulate, and motivate transformative concepts and outcomes and achieve practical outcomes in complex operational environments.

  • Demonstrated expertise in broad areas of cybersecurity spanning across civil sectors and national security missions.

  • Demonstrated track record in building strong internal and external partnerships.

  • Experience with leveraging solutions from leading academic and commercial research groups.
