Job Description

1) Occupational Summary:

Under general supervision, the EDL Technician I is responsible for various tasks within the Protoshop environment. The tasks may include machining, painting, fabrication of sheet metal details and assembly operations utilizing moderately complex blueprints. Interprets sketches, query reports and function with verbal instructions.

Complementary Description

2) Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions):

A) Work from complete moderately complex blueprints and other written and verbal instructions.

B) Responsible for layout and building of moderately complex development components or assemblies along with first articles with or without the aid of tooling.

C) Program and set up machines to close tolerances may be required.

D) Prepare and paint various materials to match customer Trim and Finish definition may be required.

E) Maintain a high quality of workmanship and assumes responsibility for work performed in assigned duties.

F) Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

3) Qualification Requirements:

A) Knowledge and Skills:

i) Must have the ability to self-motivate and perform at a high level of intensity under general supervision.

ii) A working knowledge of MRP systems, scheduling, and blueprints is preferred.

iii) Must have some knowledge of CAD systems.

iv) Experience with NC programming is preferred.

v) Computer knowledge: explain what computer systems, if any, are required or preferred.

B) Education and Experience:

i) High school diploma or equivalent is required.

ii) Two years of experience working in manufacturing or related environment required.

iii) Experience working in an experimental / prototype environment, or manufacturing setting dealing with modifications to designs, components, or assemblies is preferred.

iv) Combination of related education, certifications, licenses and experience may be considered in lieu of minimum required working experience.

C) Competencies:

Acts in accordance with company values and related competencies.

D) Communication Skills:

Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment. Ability to read and review written communication. Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.

E) Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve problems and think strategically.

4) Physical Demands:

This position requires extended periods of standing while performing the required job-related tasks. The employee must have the ability to work with computers and viewing computer monitors, and other office equipment. Walking, bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to approximately fifty pounds are required during tasks related to the job.

Specificity of the job

A) No travel is required; however, it can be arranged from time to time to support the company needs.
