Job Description:

The Department of Student Activities & Involvement (SAI) is seeking enthusiastic and organized individuals to join our team in various capacities. We offer a dynamic work environment where you'll gain valuable experience in event management, student organization support, marketing & communication, and program development that you can transition to most career fields. We have 3 positions available.

We are looking for 3 candidates who ideally be adaptable, possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. While we have specific areas of focus for each role, there will be some overlap in responsibilities.

General Responsibilities (May vary by position):

  • Event Management: Assist with the planning, execution, and on-site management of large- and small-scale events, including organization fairs, concerts, speakers, Homecoming festivities, and signature programs like GatorNights and Great Gator Welcome.

  • Student Organization Support: Provide guidance and support to student organizations through registration processes, constitution reviews, outreach initiatives, and program development workshops.

  • Marketing & Communication: Contribute to the marketing and communication efforts of the department and student organizations through social media management, listservs, departmental newsletters, and promotional materials.

  • Program Development & Assessment: Conduct research and assessment to evaluate the effectiveness of various programs and services offered by SAI.

  • Collaboration & Partnerships: Work collaboratively with professional staff, student leaders, and campus partners to ensure smooth program execution and efficient resource allocation.

Specific Focus Areas (by position):

  • Student Organizations & Advisor Resources Graduate Assistant: Focuses on student organization support, outreach, and recognition efforts as well as collaborating on campus-wide events.

  • Campus Events & Traditions Graduate Assistant: Focuses on signature events, GatorNights/Days programming, and large-scale campus-wide events.

  • SAI Special Initiatives Graduate Assistant: Focuses on the Great Gator Welcome programs, Homecoming/Gator Growl, and collaborating on major campus-wide events.

Remuneration for UF:

  • 9-month graduate assistants receive a $19,200 annual salary

  • In-state tuition for nine (9) credit hours per semester.

  • GatorGradCare health insurance.

  • Eligible for personal time with pay for up to five (5) days per semester appointment.

  • Other types of leave are available where applicable.

Expected Salary:

$19,200.00

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution

  • Admitted as a degree-seeking graduate student at the University of Florida

  • Be enrolled in a full time Master’s degree program at the University of Florida

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, faculty, and staff.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of current trends in Student Activities and Involvement preferred.
