Relationships: Enterprise Architecture, Data, Business Development and Commercial Owners

Location: Greensboro, NC or Sweden


Perform duties as the platform owner and key stakeholder in the cross-functional product team who will drive the build and scale of the Volvo Group Payments Platform.

This individual will communicate our technology vision and maintain high-quality support to enable a consistent, high quality payment experience for customers.


Delivery of software products according to the Global Product road map for the Payments Platform

Functional and technical leadership

Partnering with Business Development Owner to build cross-functional product team to scale platform to the markets

Work collaboratively with senior management, architecture, sales, marketing and business development staff to develop broadly acceptable solutions

Build and maintain a high performing team; hire and retain the right talent in the right role


  • Delivery of a scalable Payments Platform

  • Ensure process adherence and capabilties improvements in the development cycle

  • Report status and prepare short term/long term planning

  • Facilitate/Monitor review of the functional/design specification

  • Manage cost and schedule of product delivery, manage 3rd parties, vendors and partners

  • Manage development resources by setting clear business and technical expectations

  • Demonstrate Volvo’s core values and maintain a positive and open demeanor

  • Ensure resource availability to support deployment activities in various environments

  • Take care of needed services and requirements and other resource management

  • Partner with Product resources to identify clear business requirements

  • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration and mentoring


  • Managing the ongoing, planning, design, and execution of the Payment and Subscription platform, liaising with Marketing, Support, Sales, Business Development teams to ensure that the platform meets the requirements of customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.

  • Lead the product management team members in an inspirational manner that ensures their success. Comprehensive performance management of the team including hiring, training, active coaching and setting aggressive and realistic objectives.

  • Provide combined leadership (with Product Owners) in pushing and maintaining agile development

  • Working with multiple stakeholders, prioritize product initiatives focused on growth, usage, and revenue.

  • Identify areas for improvements, define methodology and technical requirements and drive experiments to optimize platform

  • Safeguard the functional scope boundaries of the platform and warrant a rock-solid foundation with an always-on mindset

  • Evaluate complementary internal and 3rd party products for existing market fit, investment required, opportunity cost, and potential revenue stream to determine priority within existing roadmap.

  • Develop and empower direct reports to make appropriate technical decisions

  • Drive consistency in artifacts and deliverables, budgets, and resource planning

  • Generate innovative ideas, solutions, and opportunities to contribute to further development of the platform

  • Take complete responsibility of the full life cycle of rollouts and oversee software release implementations

  • Design and develop highly scalable and fault-tolerant platform and applications using multiple technologies

  • Responsible for development of platform capabilities and training plans for the team members

  • Resolve product and project related issues at higher levels

  • Responsible for people management, capacity planning

  • Responsible for team building and motivation of the team for technical excellence and growth


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science

  • Master’s degree or MBA is a plus

  • 5-10 years of total work experience with strong focus of Product Delivery

  • Experience managing full life cycle of projects and overseeing software release implementations

  • Experience managing large scale environments

  • Agile development methodology experience (Scrum/Kanban) preferred

  • Payments domain expert with excellent knowledge of Transaction switching & Authorization

  • Proven track record of successful transition from delivery to solution/pre-sales and building global payment platform

  • Strong knowledge of EFT Switch, Prepaid & Debit Cards, ATM/POS, Recon, Payment Gateway, Tokenization and Open Banking

  • Knowledge of compliance/financial governance on the engagement including PCI certification & other quality assurances-audits.

  • Strong analytical, problem determination and customer relations skills

  • Enjoys product and design ideation as much as they do building product

  • Ability to be both player & coach: we’re looking for someone who is passionate about getting into the details and driving large technology initiatives while coaching and empowering teams to take ownership

  • Experience in building and supporting B2B/B2C SaaS applications used at scale

  • Deep expertise in building software platforms, specifically performance distributed systems, leveraging modern frameworks

  • Displaying a strong spirit of innovation, self-starter, independent and with ability to come up with solutions to complex problems

  • Passion for software quality, delivering high scale services and achieving engineering excellence

  • Experience in delivering scalable and high performance services and applications with excellent quality

  • Experience in Micro-services design and implementation and developing platform/server side components/APIs

  • Understanding of security protocols, encryption/decryption technologies, HSM, certificates

  • Understanding of payments technologies and exposure to cloud Azure/AWS
